was established in compliance with the Decree № 278 of Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine of 06.04.2004. The aim of the school is to meet the demands of the region in skilled professionals who can contribute to the development of recreation and tourist industry of Ivano-Frankivsk region, which serves to maintain the structure and consistency of ecological systems, getting maximum economic benefits.
Department of Automation of Technological Processes and Environmental Monitoring
Department of Automation of Technological Processes and Environmental Monitoring is the only Department in Ukraine of IVth level of accreditation that has been providing oil and gas industry and all related industries with highly skilled workers for more than 50 years now.
During the period since 1964 until 2014 the Department has trained more than 2605 professionals working in Ukraine and other countries (Russia, Germany, England, Canada, USA, Austria, etc..). Among them the specialists of enterprises of the oil and gas industry, members of the Ukrainian oil and gas academy, professors and doctors, university teachers.
Currently the Department trains future specialists using modern technologies and computer software according to the following qualification levels: "Bachelor", "Specialist", "Master" .
The Department of Business Economics has a strong tradition for high-quality research and teaching within the fields of economics and business. This is demonstrated through numerous publications in leading international journals, as well as through the education of highly valued candidates at the Bachelor, Specialist’s, Master, and PhD level.
The academic staff of the Department includes 2 Doctors of Economics, Professors, 8 PhDs, Associate Professors, 6 Teaching Assistants, and 6 postgraduate students currently do an internship here.
Transformational changes in Ukraine have significantly increased scientific and practical interest to fundamental economic science. At modern stage new possibilities of usage of global economic thought achievements, intense exchange between different scientific schools have appeared. Fundamental economic training of future specialists which is carried out by the Department plays an important role in their professional development, particularly within the boundaries of their modern economic thinking formation.
The Department of Business Theory and Administration has been established to bridge the gap between theory and practice as an independent structural unit of the university where the academic staff have an opportunity to solve scientific, scientific and methodological problems faced by economic science and higher education. The main thrust of the faculty to a large extent, revolves around the provision of an academic curriculum which attempts to blend manegerial theory and practice. The faculty aims at training a graduate who has understood and internalized manegerial theory. The graduate will also acquire useful manegerial skills and attitudes which can be applied in a relevant fashion to varied work scenarios.
Often referred to as the central science, chemistry examines the composition, structure, properties, and reactions of the stuff of the universe. The centrality of Chemistry is evident from the breadth of topics of recent Nobel Prizes in Chemistry. Students often feel that they could never be chemists because scientists are "super smart." However, anyone who enjoys learning about the world around us can be a successful chemist.
The faculty and staff of the Department of Chemistry are dedicated to the creation and dissemination of knowledge in all aspects of the chemical sciences. We strive to enable students to make meaningful contributions to our diverse, technological society and to improve the lives of the citizens of Ukraine and beyond. The short-term goals of the Department focus on improving the educational experience in Chemistry at the undergraduate and graduate levels and on enhancing the Department's long-term contributions in research and service. In Ukraine market transformations in general and in the branches of agriculture led to the urgent need for new approaches for the management of industrial enterprises, companies etc. A crucial role in this process is given to the computer networks, that are used in all the fields of activity, from management of technological processes to such fields as advertising, trade, banking, accounting and others. In this context, particularly important is the training of specialists who are capable to develop scientific and engineering basis for the creation of modern industrial and technological computer systems and networks.

The main scientific direction of the Department of Computer Systems and Networks is planned national scientific and research program on developing oil and gas complex of Ukraine "Synthesis of computer systems and networks for oil and gas facilities. Students who study successfully, take a direct part in scientific researches and experiments. Best of them continue their education and scientific work in graduate school.
Graduates of the department of CMN can work in the companies and organizations where computers and computer systems of different levels (banks, public authorities, research and design organizations, businesses large and small businesses, industries and other ) are used.
Analyzing the needs of enterprises of the region of specialists in computer engineering and specifying their requirements, it should be admitted that besides knowledge of the basic and traditional chapters of computer engineering such as hardware and software of computing hardware and computer networks, there are the requirements for knowledge of the specialized chapters, namely, knowledge and skills of developing systems based on specialized microprocessor complexes, the developing and operation of real-time operating systems to build onboard computing complexes of mobile objects, and so on.
Department of Construction and Repair Oil and Gas Pipelines and Storage Facilities
Department of construction and repair oil and gas pipelines and storage facilities prepares undergraduate bachelors in field of “Oil and Gas engineering”, specialists and masters in field of “Oil and gas pipelines and storage facilities”. Department is only one in Ukraine, which prepares experts directly in construction, maintenance, repair and reconstruction of oil and gas main pipelines, gas distribution lines, offshore and see lines, oil and gas storage facilities. It is functioning postgraduate training program and higher doctorate in field of ‘pipeline transportation, oil and gas storage facilities’. It is organized by forces of department retrainer courses in field of “Oil and gas pipelines and storage facilities” and refresher courses for specialists in oil and gas industry in following subjects programs: construction, maintenance, repair and reconstruction of oil and gas main pipelines and oil and gas storage facilities.
Timely diagnostics, qualitative and timely repair and reconstruction of aging oil and gas transportation system of Ukraine will avoid significant economic and environmental losses due to accidents, continue its performance. The complexity, scale, high cost of repairs and stringent eligibility criteria of the repair and reconstruction of such facilities require the introduction of the latest achievements of the modern world of science and technology, the use of economic, labor non intensive, innovative, smart technology, robotic hardware systems. It is necessary to attract investment resources, to learn advanced international experience, innovation, and deploy them intensively in Ukraine. We are in need of not only new technologies, techniques and instrumentation, but also specialists having new knowledge’s, skills and abilities, being able to generate innovative ideas, projects, plans, create new technologies and techniques and implement complex foreign, that is a new level of human resources and human capital industry. Therefore, the main goal of the department is to develop high professional intellectual environment in the field of construction, maintenance, repair and reconstruction of gas and oil pipelines and storage facilities. For this purpose, the department is continuously updated physical infrastructure, created by modern multimedia lecture hall, main and refresher courses are read highly to attract industry professionals. Department graduates work successfully in the design and research institutes, oil and gas pipelines management units, pipeline construction companies, oil pumping and compressor stations, tank farms, underground gas storages as well as well in foreign countries as in Ukraine, in urban gas, water and heating utilities. On the need for specialist training in this specialty shows steady state order for graduates of full-time education and sectoral demand for retraining of experts at the Institute of Postgraduate Education, employment of graduates in leading Ukrainian and international organizations. Together with industry constantly study the need for expertise in a particular specialty, operational changes are made in the curricula and programs. Graduates of the department actively participated in the construction of the transcontinental gas mains "Bratersvo", "Soyuz", "Progress", "Urengoy-Pomary-Uzhgorod , oil pipeline "Druzhba", "Odessa-Brody", many underground gas storage facilities. Many of the graduates are chairmen in leading oil and gas transportation companies.
Since 1993 the Department of Ecological Engineering has been training students for Bachelor’s degree according to the program of study 6.040106 “Ecology, environmental conservation, and balanced nature management” and for the majors 7.04010601, 8.04010601 «Ecology, and environmental conservation».
Department of electricity supply and electrical equipment of industrial enterprises
Nowadays the Department consists of 18 lecturers, including 2 doctors of technical sciences, 2 professors and 9 candidates of technical sciences. Department graduates are distributed to work on an enterprise from the extraction and transportation of oil and gas, companies from production and distribution of electric energy, in electro technical services of other enterprises, annually.
The department operates advanced training courses of electrical engineers, you can get the second higher education in the specialty "Electro technical systems of electrical consumption".

The Department provides practical training, internship and pre-degree apprenticeship, graduate thesis supervision, master thesis supervision, and postgraduate study.
For practical training, internships and pre-degree apprenticeships and integration of the department into production and scientific centers on the basis of Western Ukrainian Geophysical Exploration Expedition and Carpathian Branch of Institute of Geophysics named after S.I.Subbotin of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine several branches of the department have been established.
Specialized laboratories of seismic survey, gravity-magnetic survey, electronic logging, and integrated interpretation operate at the premises of the department. There is also laboratory of computer technologies where students master modern hardware and specially designed software.
Department of Geology and Survey of Oil and Gas Deposits
The Department of Geology and Survey of Oil and Gas Deposits carries out training of geological engineers majoring in “Oil and Gas Geology”. The training of professionals is conducted according to three-stage model “Bachelor – Specialist, Master”.
The Department provides postgraduate study supervised by Professors, Doctors of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences B. Maievskyi and O. Orlov, and Associate Professor, PhD (Geology) V. Omelchenko.
The Department trains specialists in surveying and exploration of all kinds of mineral deposits, precious metals, rough diamonds, rare and radioactive metals. As well the School offers academic programs in gas and oil geology, geochemistry, petrology and mineralogy, technology of precious stones and metal treatment. Students are supposed to master geological and geophysical methods of reconnaissance and searching; oil and gas field developing, which are combined with dynamics and statics modeling of hydrocarbon raw material deposits; skills to predict their progress and protect environment when prospecting a district for oil and gas.
The department provides basic training for future professionals in geology and geophysics. The department provides a study of the major general geological disciplines that form the basis for further development of special geological objects graduation departments of geology and exploration of oil and gas, industrial geophysics and field geophysics. The training process consists of lectures and laboratory classes and mandatory practices two passing students after the first and second courses. During the first practice in the field, students learn the routes of the main types of exogenous processes, endogenous manifestations, topography, geological history and development of the Carpathian mountain range, geological and tectonic structure of the margin of the East European platform, the Carpathian foredeep and the Carpathian mountains. In the description field outcrops they repeat the main theoretical positions acquired during training, learn to their practical application.
Department of Geotechnogenic Safety and Geoinformatics
Department of Geotechnogenic Safety and Geoinformatics was established following the Rector’s of IFNTUOG order № 34 of 13.04.2004 р. within the structure of the Institute of Environmental Engineering.
The Department's focus is on acquisition, modeling, analysis, and management of spatially referenced data for a wide range of applications. These include map-making, navigation, monitoring of engineering projects and geological hazards, environmental monitoring, boundary determination and geographic information management.
Department of Geotechnogenic Safety and Geoinformatics
The issue of geotechnical safety is relevant on the basis of the two following provisions. The first one is the necessity to study and assess the geological conditions of cities and towns construction, industrial, civil, hydrotechnical and other facilities, the rational use of the geological environment. The second one is the study and prediction of human activities impacts, in particular changes in the surrounding geological environment due to the work of the mining enterprises. The use of geographic information systems is a necessary element of these directions.
The creation of national and local hydropower stations associated with a single, unified system of classification, coding, and data exchange in the structure of governing bodies, the access to the data, lays the groundwork for interstate and global information systems, global monitoring and forecasting of natural and man-made processes. Initial ideas as for the building of national hydroelectric power station in Ukraine, have been developed in the state scientific program of fundamental research "On the Concept of multi-national hydroelectric power station " back in 1994.
The training of specialists in the field of education "Geoinformation systems and technologies" in IFNTUOG aimes at staffing companies involved in land management, cadastre, as well as in the fields of geology, geophysics, ecology.
The main directions for the future specialists of this profession are:
• analysis and processing of spatial-coordinate information;
• development of maps for individual sectors of the national economy;
• modeling of spatially- distributed data;
• specialized hydropower plants building;
• development and maintenance of information systems;
• information support of geological, engineering-geological and environmental research;
• information support of oil and gas enterprises activities.
The Department prepares bachelors and specialists in land management. All of its activities, as well as the necessity of creation are dedicated to training skilled specialists with higher education to provide with the personnel the priority areas of regional economy.
The staff of the department comprises 14 teaching staff including 1 Doctor of Technical Sciences, 1 Professor, 5 PhDs, and Associate Professors. Two postgraduate students do postgraduate studies at the department.
Department of Manufacturing Engineering of Oil and Gas Equipment
The department is part of the Institute of Engineering Mechanics IFNTUOG and prepares bachelors in direction of training "Engineering Mechanics", specialists and masters in "Manufacturing engineering" (specialization - "Manufacturing engineering of oil and gas equipment"). Today, the department has 11 teachers, of which about 70% have academic degrees and titles. For the implementation of the educational process the department has five laboratories with modern educational and industrial equipment. There is a computer-based training on modern computers.
Department of Offshore Oil and Gas Technologies is a structural unit of the Institute of Petroleum Engineering.
Since 1994 the Department has been providing training for Bachelors, Specialists, and Masters of the following majors:

Our graduates work in SJSC "Chornomornaftohaz", SRPI "Shelf" Institute, CNGS Group, UkrNDIhas, SC "Ukrhazvydobuvannia" and OJSC "Ukrnafta". A lot of them hold leading positions in those companies.In sixteen years of existence of the department there have been published a lot of textbooks, manuals, and guides.

Department of Oil and Gas Field Development and Operation is a structural unit of the Institute of Petroleum Engineering.

Development of methodological bases of disposal process in highly mineralized Precarpathian brine potassium fields in hydrocarbon reservoir which is depleted in development.
Department of Wear Resistance and Recovery of Parts
Department of Wear Resistance and Recovery of Parts is а structual unit of the Institite of Mechanical Engineering. The department trains specialists in the sphere of welding, majoring in "Recovery and improving the wear resistance of parts and constructions” according to three educational levels - Bachelor, Specialist and Master.
License number of students receiving training is 45 people. The staff consists of 12 teachers, including 3 professors, 2 doctors of sciences, 7 associate professors, 6 PhDs, 2 teaching assistants. Head of the department – Yaroslav Kryl, Professor , PhD. The department provides postgraduate study according to the following majors: 05.02.04 - " Friction and Wear in Machines " 05.02.01 - "Material Engineering " and 05.05.12 - "Machinery in Petroleum Industry ."
Department of wear resistance and tool recovery has a total area of 1460 m2. On the territory of the campus there are nine teaching laboratories and a specialized lecture room (with a total area of 830 m2).
Professionals in recovery and improving the wear resistance of parts and constructions receive training in accordance with the latest requirements of modern technology, can use gas-thermal and vacuum techniques of coating for the recovery and wear resistance of the surface of the parts as well as apply methods of surface modification due to changes in the structural state of the surface layers of the material of a detail (amorphization, and creation of metastable nanostructures, etc.) or doping with the use of specific sources of heat and surface treatment equipment (plasma, electron-beam, laser and other technologies). Thus, specialists acquire skills in ensuring performance of parts and assemblies through the control of surface properties of the part (Surface Engineering). Graduates of the leading technical universities in Europe and the U.S. with this major have leading positions in business, production engineering, planning and design, and research centers.
Department of Well Logging trains future specialists (Specialists and Masters) in two majors: well logging and logging techniques and tools. Besides, the department carries out scientific research, works closely with geophysical expeditions and enterprises of petroleum complex of Ukraine.

SubDepartment of Applied Mechanics is a structural unit of the Institute of Mechanical Engineering. It’s a general engineering department which provides educational process for technical specialties of the university from subjects: "Theoretical Mechanics", "Fundamentals of the theory of structures", "Theory of mechanisms and machines" and "Technical mechanics".

The Department of Technical Diagnostics and Monitoring was established on May 1, 2005 (decree # 49 from May 25, 2005) on the base of the Oil and Gas Pipeline Faculty at Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas.
